After three years of feeling frustrated with his playing time on the men’s basketball team at Lee University, Jalen Page took a big risk for his last two years.

Page, a junior guard, transferred to Trevecca in August and is averaging 20.3 points a game for the Trojans in his first season on the roster.

“I needed a better opportunity to play basketball. I know the type of basketball player I am, and I know at the school I was at wasn’t going to happen. I know where I want to take my career, I want to play this game for a long time. I know that my best years are in front of me, not behind me,” Page said.

Coach Kevin Carroll saw something in Page that caught his attention when he became active in the transfer portal.

“From a skill piece I saw him as a very skillful player. Jalen is a good leader and positive person on and off the court. He’s a very good ball-handler, a good shooter, and a good passer. He’s everything we were looking for–very athletic and has a very good personality and someone that brings energy to the team,” said Carroll.

With Trevecca hiring Carroll this past season, the Trojans are sitting at 13-5 overall and 8-2 in the conference, their best start in 10 plus years.

Page has also started in 18 games so far this season for the Trojans. On top of that the Trojan guard is also averaging 6.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game, while shooting 50% from the field, 41.9% from 3 and 81.9% from the foul line.

Over the season Page has had four awards added to his collection. Page is a 3-time Great Midwest player of the week, and he has won the Tennessee Sports Writers Award.

Page has set personal goals to make him compete and stay on top of his game.

“My number one goal is to win in everything I do. Another goal is winning the conference championship. The one goal that I want to be able to accomplish is to be the best person and player to these guys for the next nine months,” Page said.
