Men’s and women’s basketball teams pass season midpoint at 7–4 in conference play

By Parker Henningsen Sports Editor and Chief Photographer Both the men and women’s basketball teams have passed over the half-way mark in their season. Both teams are currently 14-7 overall with the men being 9-6 in conference play and the women are 11-5 Four-time freshman of the week, Fred Bailey, has been a key player to the men’s team this season. “I was a red-shirt last year so I have just been eager to play. So freshman of the week compliments the work I just put in,” said Bailey. Bailey becomes the second Trojan athlete to ever win the award four-times in one season, behind Julius Turnipseed IV (track and field). Bailey currently has the second highest point average per game at 13.2 ppg, the most defensive rebounds (85), and the second most points (224) this season.&n...

By Trevor West Contributor Jikari Johnson. Photo courtesy Trevecca Athletics. He shot 45.9% from the field, 38.5% from the three-point line and 82.9% from the free-throw line. He averaged 5.1 rebounds per game and was ...

Men’s and women’s basketball overviews

By Jett Johnson Sports Editor Photo by Alayna Simons, Editor-in-Chief Men’s basketball Men’s Basketball has had a great turnaround season and is heading into tournament season with a strong record of 15-10. Men’s Basketball head coach Kevin Carroll is pleased with the team's success.  "It’s very gratifying. I don’t go into seasons predicting records and things of that nature. I’m more of a take-it day-by-day kind of guy, and I’m really grateful for the way our guys have come together. We’ve had a really good record at home and that’s been a big part of our overall success," said Carroll.  The men's team has four players averaging double figures in scoring, and according to Carroll, this is their preferred style of offense.  "That's really just our style of play. I ...

Transfer basketball player leads team

By Trevor West Contributor Photo by Alayna Simons, Editor-in-Chief After three years of feeling frustrated with his playing time on the men’s basketball team at Lee University, Jalen Page took a big risk for his last two years. Page, a junior guard, transferred to Trevecca in August and is averaging 20.3 points a game for the Trojans in his first season on the roster. “I needed a better opportunity to play basketball. I know the type of basketball player I am, and I know at the school I was at wasn’t going to happen. I know where I want to take my career, I want to play this game for a long time. I know that my best years are in front of me, not behind me,” Page said. Coach Kevin Carroll saw something in Page that caught his attention when he became active in the transfer...
