Trevecca Theatre presents Kate Hamill’s witty adaption of Jane Austen’s “Emma”

By Jasmin Enriquez Martinez Features Editor Trevecca’s Theatre department will perform the comedic coming-of-age story Emma adapted by Kate Hamill this Friday. The show will take place in Benson Auditorium in McClurkan, opening Feb. 20 and running through March 1. The theatre production of Emma is based on Jane Austen’s classic novel but with a modern twist. The show follows Emma Woodhouse, a young woman who decides to play matchmaker trying to bring people together like her friend Harriet Smith. However, her matchmaking will cause mistakes and learning opportunities as she matures as a character. Trevecca community works to recover after winter ice storm disruption

Macey Smith Student Reporter Days after classes resumed following a winter snowstorm, many Trevecca students are still working to catch up on their missed classes, delayed assignments and disrupted schedules. A record-setting ice storm on Jan. 25 forced the university to cancel in-person classes for a full week and while classes have since returned to normal, students and faculty say the interruption created many academic challenges that could not be resolved immediately. Power outages, limited internet access, and difficult communication during the storm left some students behind before classes even resumed. SGA brings back “Big Game Show” for second year

By Macey Smith Staff Writer Trevecca students have the chance to show off their skills, cheer on their friends, and win prizes at the upcoming “Big Game Show” competition on Tuesday, Feb. 24, from 7-9 p.m. in the Boone Convocation Center. This is the second year SGA puts on the “Big Game Show,” which mimics popular game shows such as Family Feud, Jeopardy, and The Price is Right. SGA President Kenna Tatumn said students can expect a high-energy night designed to bring students together. “It's going to be such a fun event,” Tatumn said. “Bring all of your friends and get loud, get hype, and be there.” The evening will feature three main games, each with five to 10 student participants, along with two mini games in between that allow audience members...

By Judge Mobley Staff Writer Students interested in becoming a Resident Assistant (RA) can attend an informational meeting on Feb. 9 at either 11 a.m. or 9 p.m. in Wakefield Auditorium. Anyone is welcome at the meeting to learn more about joining the residential staff on campus. Each year Student Development employs 45 students who are responsible for their assigned floor. Students must possess good conflict management skills, leadership skills and resilience. These students are compensated with the RA scholarship of $3,500 for the semester. Men’s and women’s basketball teams pass season midpoint at 7–4 in conference play

By Parker Henningsen Sports Editor and Chief Photographer Both the men and women’s basketball teams have passed over the half-way mark in their season. Both teams are currently 14-7 overall with the men being 9-6 in conference play and the women are 11-5 Four-time freshman of the week, Fred Bailey, has been a key player to the men’s team this season. “I was a red-shirt last year so I have just been eager to play. So freshman of the week compliments the work I just put in,” said Bailey. Bailey becomes the second Trojan athlete to ever win the award four-times in one season, behind Julius Turnipseed IV (track and field).
