Filmmakers, editors, writers, and students will gather on campus this weekend for the third annual Music City Cinema Conference.
Organizers announced on social media yesterday that the conference is still on after a major ice storm in Nashville this week.
“Some have asked if the conference will stay on schedule,” states a post on the @treveccafilm Instagram account. “The answer is yes. The show will go on.”
The conference begins today, Jan. 30, at 3:30 p.m.
Directed by Trevecca film and television professors Seth Conley and Adam Drake, the conference aims to connect students with filmmakers and storytellers from around Nashville for networking and job opportunities.
“There is a market for people hungry to be involved in film, television, and cinema in the Nashville community,” said Seth Conley, professor of film and television.
This year’s conference will include master classes and breakout sessions led by film producers, designers, and screenwriters like Torry Martin, James R. Cunningham, and Trevecca film and television graduate Darby Faccinto. Conley said the impact of this conference will be greater notoriety for Trevecca and the film and television program.
“We’ve seen people that have gotten internships and connections just from talking to these people that, you know, show up at the conference. We’ve had students that have gotten those connections, so we’ve learned that it definitely is a great opportunity,” said Conley.
Conference admission is free for Trevecca faculty, staff, and both prospective and current undergraduate students.
“You can gain a lot of knowledge and learn a lot from these professionals that have come from around the world,” said Eddie-DeVonte Barrett, senior film and television major.
Admission for the general public is $75 and includes access to a movie screening, all master class sessions and workshops, and a networking dessert reception on Saturday.
The event will take place at the Boone Convocation Center at Trevecca, beginning Friday, Jan. 30, at 3:30 p.m., and continuing Saturday, Jan. 31, at 8:30 a.m.
