The international student council will be hosting Taste the Nations at Trevecca Community Church on April 17 starting at 6 p.m.

“Taste the Nations is the one time you get to be in a room with people from all over the world and to actually get to meet them, and get to see their culture,” said David Moran, sophomore electrical and computer engineering major and this year’s Taste the Nations’ host.

At Taste the Nations, the International Student Council showcases cultures from different parts of the world through food and performances. This year the event will have a World Cup theme.

“This year we’re trying to have more variety of foods and also just have a theme based on something that most of the international community can relate to and it’s soccer,” said Ricardo Barahona, president of the International student council.

Rebecca Merrick, director of global engagement, said this year’s event will be more organized and everyone should be able to taste every plate.

“This year we’re changing up the food a little bit so that it feels less chaotic,” she said, “We’re gonna have a little more organization to the food and everyone should be able to sample everything.”

The event will also have a trivia that will be about the World Cup.

Tickets are $5 and students interested in attending can buy them during lunchtime in the remainder of the week, or at the door during the event.

“I feel like the biggest reward [students get] is a spiritual one, because we always try to incorporate the word of God in all these events,” said Moran, “And honestly, no matter the place, the language, or the culture, we all bleed, and at the end of the day, we’re all humans who are united by one God.”
