Trojans Cross Country are looking to turn heads in the Gulf South Conference. Both the men’s and women’s teams were ranked 9 in the preseason polls.
“Look to see us make some noise, we are going to make some regional rankings,” Head Coach Austin Selby said.
Trevecca’s cross country team is coming off a strong showing in the first meet of the season. Trevecca finished third overall in the opener on the men and women’s teams with the top runners Remmy Arney and Caleb Hinson leading the way. Ashley Alsvig, Raegan Heldt, and Madeline Patton had personal records as well.
The men’s team only has two seniors on the roster, and added many new faces to the team. The team had three runners in the top 20 last meet.
On the women’s team, five upperclassmen lead the way and are balanced with experience.
Emerging as a leader, Senior Emmy Mattingly has been running for the Trojans all four years of her collegiate career. She reached Midwest regionals last season and is someone to be on the lookout for on the women’s team. Freshman Remmy Arney, who had the best time of any Trojan last meet, ran the 5k in 19:51 minutes.
Trevecca cross country is in action on Oct. 12 for their UAH charger invitational in Huntsville, Alabama.
