Trevecca Athletics to induct five new members into Hall of Fame during Homecoming

Trevecca Nazarene University’s Athletic department will induct five new athletes into its Hall of Fame during this weekend’s Homecoming celebrations. This year’s honorees include golf, softball, volleyball, baseball, and track and field/cross country program graduates.

Alexa Rippy Phillips, Lindsey Stephens Holland, Kristen Johnson Robertson, Logan Rodgers, and Mike Mills will be recognized during a ceremony on Nov. 2 at 10:30 a.m.

“There’s a rush of emotion that happens with most Hall of Fame inductees,” said Mark Elliott, athletic director. “Inductees speak highly of their time here at Trevecca, so it’s kind of a neat thing to have.”

Each year, Trevecca’s athletic department nominates athletes who have achieved national or regional recognition and exemplified the university’s standards for character while bringing distinction to the athletic program.

Phillips, a golf standout, is among the most celebrated athletes in Trevecca’s history. She was recruited by Hall of Fame coach Michael Johnson and finished her career under coach David Head.

Holland is recognized as one of the university’s top dual-threat softball players, excelling as both a pitcher and a hitter. Her accolades include being a two-time All-American and two-time Great Midwest Player of the Year.

Robertson made history as the first Great Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year, playing a crucial role in the Trojan program’s transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II volleyball. She averaged a triple-double during her junior season.

Rodgers will be honored as the first student-athlete from Trevecca’s Track and Field or Cross Country teams to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He was also the first Trojan to qualify for the NCAA Nationals in Track and Field.

Mills was a standout baseball player, setting long-standing records, including a 2.12 earned run average as a freshman. He was drafted twice and spent several years in the San Diego Padres organization.

The selection process for the Hall of Fame is thorough, with nominees pulled from a spreadsheet maintained by the athletics department.

The ceremony is open to the public.
