The Trojans have been voted third in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll for the 2024 season after bringing back most of their team from the previous season.

The team returned eight freshmen, seven sophomores, 19 juniors, and 11 seniors. The Trojans have also done a lot of recruiting, picking up four freshmen and nine transfers to fill the 2024 roster.

“I’m excited about our offense with these guys. I’m more excited about our pitching depth, it’s been the best since I came here and started coaching. Just all around I think with this group of guys we are going to be a lot better since we have more chemistry than the previous seasons,” said Chase Sain, head coach.

The Trojans key players from the previous season coming back this season.

Jack Keel, junior right handed pitcher, on the mound, finished with an earned run average of 2.96. He achieved a record of six and three and three completed five games, including two shutouts.

Joey Parliament, senior infielder, in the 2023 season with a batting average of .373 and an On base plus slugging of 1.081 in 43 games.

Caleb Marks, junior right handed pitcher, on the mound he had an earned run average of 2.62. He had a record of three and four, Marks demonstrated his game by completing two games, including one shutout.

Matthew Hock, junior left handed pitcher, in the 2023 season, showcasing a 2.13 earned run average. Hock made an impact with six saves.

Sain is beginning his fourth season as head coach. Sain has a record of 104-49 in the first three seasons with the Trojans and hopes to continue to stack up numbers in the win column.

Sain has guided the Trojans to their 19th season of 30+ wins, 14 of which include win totals of 35 or more. He has also won Great Midwest Coach of the Year in 2021, and ABCA/ATEC Midwest Region Coach of the Year  in 2021.

With a winning, yet slightly disappointing, 2023 season that resulted in the Trojans finishing 31-21 overall and 22-10 in the conference and missing the NCAA Tournament, the Trojans look to stay strong and compete this season to work towards completing their goals.

“Our goals this season as a team is to win 40 games. Obviously we want to win the conference championship like we did my sophomore year. Our number one goal is to win the championship at the end of the year,” said David Milam, senior catcher.

Milam has played all his years at Trevecca and is ready to hit the field one last time wearing purple and white.

“I have mixed feelings right now, but I’m happy because the first four years have gone by way too fast especially when my freshman year was a covid season. I get this extra year and we have a good team, and I know we can go far. I just thank God and I’m really blessed that I get to take this in and get to do this one last time,” said Milam.
