Trevecca officials are still looking for a medical professional to reopen and run the student clinic on campus.
“We have just begun trying to figure out ways to recruit some great practitioners. We’ve been talking with our nursing program as well as our PA program and we look forward to continuing those conversations about ways we can partner up to bring the clinic back,” said Jessica Dykes, vice president and dean of student development.
The clinic has been closed since the summer of 2023. Before the clinic closed it offered services like general healthcare, allergy shots, flu shots, flu testing and general first aid.
According to Dykes, the hope is that the clinic will open back up and be able to offer the services it previously provided before closing, but it would depend on the practitioners.
In the meantime, students have access to TimelyCare, a virtual platform that offers free services including access to scheduled and on-demand doctor and counseling visits, health and nutrition coaching with self-care tips, and practitioners that can prescribe medication to students when needed.
“TimelyCare is included with tuition, meaning you don’t have to pay at the time of the visit like how you didn’t have to pay for the clinic. You do have to pay if you go to an offsite clinic, and you have to pay for prescriptions. But there is no cost whenever you reach out to TimelyCare,” said Dykes.
But, Dykes said her office is committed to finding a practitioner that can provide in-person care on campus.
”We want to reopen the clinic so that students can get flu shots and strep tests and that’s why we want to find great practitioners. We recognize that students need services alongside TimelyCare,” said Dykes.
The clinic will now be part of the Center for Student Development.
“The clinic was moved to the Center for Student Development because it made sense to house it in an area that already offered student support. Students can come to the center and get academic support, residence assistance, and even pastoral healing,” said Dykes.
Trevecca will host a flu clinic Oct. 23, where students can get a free flu shot. The location and time will be provided closer to date.
