Concerts, sporting events and food tours are a few of the local activities available to Trevecca students through “City Tours Series,” a program that allows students to purchase discounted tickets to events in Nashville each month.

“This past one was a week or so ago. It was the ‘No Big Deal’ concert and that was a blast. I listened to a couple of his songs before, but just the concert experience was really fun,”  said Jason Burch, a computer Science Major.

This year Student Life started the The City Tours Series to encourage community engagement. Community engagement helps students expand thier social circles and community connections. Cultural experiences broaden diversity for students by learning the history around them.

“The series officially started this year – we have done events off campus in the past, but our goal this year was to create more consistent opportunities by providing something once a month,” said Natalie Specht, director of Student Life.

Though the events cost money, student development officials said they never want costs to prevent students from participating.

“Students can come reach out to us because we never want finances to be a reason why they can’t come to any of our events,” said Specht.

The City Tours Series is open to both resident and commuter students. Students can pay for individual event tickets or buy the passport for “City Tours Series” events.

“I have the passport, which is $45 and gets you to all of the events free,” said Burch.

Student life also provides promos and discounts for students to use their Trevecca IDs at places such as Rocket Town Coffee Shop and skate park, tours of the Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium or Nashville Ballet.

“We will help host some things as well as just find access points for you guys to go check out the city yourself,” said Specht. “We’ll promote things like discount codes that we get or tickets to the Predators’ games,”  said Specht.
