Davenport, a 6-5 guard from Woodbury, Tenn., was recognized by his high school with his jersey retirement, a practice done once an important figure in their team leaves. Davenport, or “Mr. Basketball” as recognized by the TSSAA, left as the all-time leading scorer in Cannon County history with 2,130 career points, making him the only player on the men’s team to surpass 2,000 career points. By David Wilson Contributor Jamie Stark has always dreamed of playing college soccer. Never in her wildest dreams did she think she would be able to profit off her athletic ability. Stark, a member of the Trevecca women’s soccer team, is one of the few student-athletes on campus with an NIL deal. This is an agreement allowing athletes to market their name, image and likeness. “It's so exciting. There are a lot of new brands and entrepreneurs looking to start new businesses. [NIL] is not just for the athletes with a million followers on Instagram. It has been fun to show that the little guys can do it too,” said Stark. Men’s and women’s basketball teams gearing up for new season

The men’s team beat Covenant 55-52 over homecoming weekend. Omar Mance, head coach of men’s basketball, said he is pleased with how preseason training is going. “Training has been great. Guys have been working really hard, and we have a lot of newcomers with eight freshmen and three transfers. We have a lot of excitement and a lot of energy. Holman is now Trevecca’s all-time leader in saves (399), clean sheets (25) and wins (36). She has also moved to first place in the GMAC for most saves in a career. Holman is also tied for third place for clean sheets and sits in fifth place on the GMAC all-time wins list. “I came in knowing I needed a few more shutouts to break school records. I try not to focus too much on things that may or may not happen. Although the start to the season has not been perfect, head coach Danny Leavy had positive takeaways from the preseason practices. “It was earlier than normal because this is called a festival year for the NCAA. It started 10 days earlier than we normally start, so that made a big difference organizationally during the summer,” said Leavy. Former WNBA player, Karen Booker ready to lead Trevecca women’s basketball

When I was working with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, we were trying to help coaches learn how to share their faith while coaching. To be able to step into the position at Trevecca, where we preach the motto of Christian, scholar and athlete, the path just made sense for me,” said Booker. Booker, the 11th child of the late Monroe and Mary Booker, was an all-state selection in 1983 at Franklin. She was inducted in the Franklin High School Hall of Fame and has her jersey retired. Trojans Sweep Weekend Matches Against Ursuline and Lake Erie; Remain Undefeated at Home

By David Wilson The Trevecca volleyball team swept its weekend matches against conference opponents Ursuline and Lake Erie. With the sweep, the Trojans moved to 9-0 in games at Trojan Fieldhouse. On Friday, Trevecca faced the Ursuline Arrows and had little trouble in the matchup. The Trojans won the match in three sets (25-13, 25-21, 25-14). Emma Titus led the Trojan offense with a team high nine kills. Setter Emilee McDonald was a key contributor both offensively and defensively. McDonald had a total of 34 assists and 10 digs.
