The Lady Trojans lost the first four of their pre-conference matchups, but hope to continue to improve as conference play continues. Kelly Quigley, STUNT head coach, was named GMAC STUNT coach of the year and thinks it is a result of the overall team’s success. “I didn’t really have words for it when I found out. I think it just goes to show that all of the hard work and everything we’ve put into this team was for something. It’s amazing to see that other coaches are noticing the hard work we’re putting into the program. I wouldn’t have won that award without the girls and how dedicated they are,” said Quigley. At a school the size of Trevecca it can make recruiting top prospects more difficult.  “NIL has hurt recruiting because every institution is different from the type of NIL that they can offer, and I say that with the confines of the support they get. As an institution, we ourselves can’t pay athletes’ deals. But now part of the recruiting pitches for those institutions have collective partners, and we have this much money allocated towards NIL deals. By Nazaiah Steele  Contributor Lucas Baggott is a junior from Mobile, Alabama, and he was recruited from Baker High School to Trevecca for track and field before NIL was prevalent on campus. Before Trevecca, Baggott was a “runner of the week” in Mobile County, and he was a four-sport athlete at Mobile High School where he led his cross country and track teams to multiple championships. When he began his freshman season in the 2020-21 season, he wasn't a NIL athlete. As he has continued to play the sport he loves, he developed a good following, which helped lead him to a NIL in the summer of his junior year.  “The NIL deal I have right now is with Liquid IV. Lucas Baggott, junior men’s track & field athlete, broke the 400m dash record. Ariana Bilderback, senior women’s track & field athlete, set a school record in the triple jump. Molly Sims, junior women’s track & field athlete, set a new Trevecca school record in weight throw with a throw of 13.14m. Dayton Floyd, freshman men’s track & field athlete, set two new records. First is an all-conditions Trevecca school record in the long jump, and the other is an indoor school record high jump. By Jett Johnson Sports Editor Photo Courtesy Trevecca marketing Men’s and women’s basketball have both found success this year, and as a result of that there has been an increase in attendance.  The women’s attendance is already close with last year before tournament play started, with a total of 3,742 total attendees at home compared to last year's total 3,871 total attendees.  The men’s team had an attendance increase of over double.
