Trevecca breaks enrollment record, adding nearly 550 new undergraduate students

The class includes 460 freshmen, 72transfers and 14 readmits, surpassing last year’s record of 530 new students. “This year we're at 460 freshmen… which is definitely a record. Trevecca graduates benefit from alumni scholarships when attending graduate school at alma mater

By Maven McGregory Staff Writer Lauren Steinbrook/TrevEchoes Information detailing how to apply to graduate programs according to Trevecca’s website. Trevecca currently offers 24 graduate programs and officials are working to be sure undergraduate students are aware of graduate school options at Trevecca and how to fund them after graduation. For in-state students, the Tennessee Hope Scholarship can now be used for 5 years, meaning it can help cover the cost of several Trevecca graduate programs as many of them are 12-15 months long. The scholarship provides $5,700 for full time students. Additionally, Trevecca’s Graduate Alumni Scholarship offers eligible alumni a 10% tuition discount to programs except the Physician Assistant and Doctor of Pharmacy programs. “C...

Largest freshman class in history helps set all-time enrollment record 

Lauren Steinbrook Staff Writer Freshman class huddling up for field day Aug. 2024. Photo courtesy Trevecca Marketing.  This is an all-time record enrollment for the university, adding 530 new students.  Melinda Miller, vice president of undergraduate enrollment, said 456 freshmen and 67 transfers were enrolled this fall. “There was a significant increase in new athletes this year compared to our performance last year,” said Miller. “We also had an increase in Nazarenes and an increase in students from multiple counties in Tennessee.”  Around 67% of new students are from Tennessee. New master’s degrees now available

By Sol Ayala Online Editor Three new master’s programs are now available at Trevecca. The three new fully online master programs are Sport and Entertainment Management (SEM), Human Fitness and Performance and Strategic Communication. Sports and Entertainment Management offers students a business experience as they first take MBA core courses and move forward with the SEM courses. The coursework includes foundations for graduate students, global and economic environment, contemporary issues and ethics and nine more. Leigh Ann Danzey-Bussell, professor of sports management and the program leader, said there are currently 11 to 12 students in the program, which launched over a year ago. By Kamryn Sanderfer Contributor Photos provided by International Student Council In the past 10 years Trevecca’s international student body has grown by 11%, moving from 18 students in 2014 to 206 students in the fall of 2023, but Trevecca’s international student body is lacking the cultural diversity that national averages statistically reported from 2023. “It’s better for Trevecca and for the international students too if we have more countries with larger populations,” said Rebecca Merrick, Trevecca’s Director of Global Engagement. “Behind Honduras, the countries represented only have single-digit numbers of people that are at Trevecca. Nearly 500 New Students Joined Trevecca Community This Fall

By Lauren Steinbrook Section Editor Close to 500 new students joined the Trevecca community this fall. Melinda Miller, vice president of undergraduate enrollment, said there were a total of 445 freshmen and transfers enrolled this fall, with 375 of those being freshman and 70 being transfers. In the fall of 2022, there were 378 new freshmen and 67 transfers. Miller said the admissions team was anticipating an increase in enrollment from the beginning of the recruitment cycle. They were able to increase the number of applications received by more than 300, which has never been done in Trevecca history.
