Trevecca’s campus will be closed on April 3, 2025, due to flooding caused by severe storms that occurred overnight.

“There is flooding in UTA. The front main entrance has been closed off and on due to flooding. There has been some flooding in the Annex as well. This is all I can tell you right now, but we’re expecting another round this afternoon,” said Charlie Wilson, security officer.

Davidson County was under multiple tornado warnings overnight, with students sheltering from around 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. No tornadoes were reported, but 5.18 inches of rain on campus so far has caused flooding by the university’s main entrance on Murfreesboro Pike and the back roads behind campus by the Urban Farm.

What we know:

  • The main entrance to Trevecca is dry, and traffic is as normal. The parking at UTA is also dry and back to regular conditions.
  • The dining hall, Starbucks, and the hub will be open during their regular hours on April 3, 2025 according to an Instagram post on the official account of Trevecca dining.
  • The urban farm is flooded, but all the animals and farmers are safe. They are requesting volunteers to help with clean up on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to a post on their official Instagram account.
  • Tutoring labs will be closed due to the upcoming thunderstorms and tornadoes forecasted for later in the afternoon. Classroom buildings will also remain locked, according to Mark Bowles, director of academic services, in an email.
  • The scene shop flooded last night, with water peaking at approximately 12 inches. The standing water has since receded to 2 to 4 inches, and cleanup will begin soon, according to Trevecca’s dramatic arts technical director, Joshua Mast.
  • Flooding in the scene shop did not affect the design work for the department’s production of The Tempest, and the opening night performance is set to proceed as planned, barring any unforeseen circumstances, according to Jeff Frame, professor of dramatic arts.
  • Waggoner Library will also be closed on April 3, due to weather and staffing issues. Virtual help will still be available during regular hours through the library website and email, as they stated in an email.

This is a developing story, follow for updates.
