Trojans scorched by Bulldogs at home

By Tyler D. Whetstone

Zeinab Chan led No. 1 and two time defending national champion Union University (21-0, 8-0) with 22 points as the Bulldogs had four players in double figures in route to handing the Lady Trojans (7-11, 4-3) their worst home loss in eight years, 83-56.

London Elie led all scorers with 24, but it was not enough to ellipse the torrid shooting displayed by the Bulldogs who shot 32/61 for 53% for the game compared to the Lady Trojans 21/63 for 33%.

Rachel Bollinger knocked down a three to give the Trojans a 5-2 lead 1:32 into the first half. However, that would be the only lead for the Lady Trojans all game. Midway through the half Union went on a 17-1 run and was unfazed when the Lady Trojans rallied to end the first half on a 7-1 run.

The win gives Union their 59th straight TranSouth win and also tied a school record 43th straight regular season victory.
