SGA brings back “Big Game Show” for second year

By Macey Smith Staff Writer Trevecca students have the chance to show off their skills, cheer on their friends, and win prizes at the upcoming “Big Game Show” competition on Tuesday, Feb. 24, from 7-9 p.m. in the Boone Convocation Center.   This is the second year SGA puts on the “Big Game Show,” which mimics popular game shows such as Family Feud, Jeopardy, and The Price is Right. SGA President Kenna Tatumn said students can expect a high-energy night designed to bring students together.  “It's going to be such a fun event,” Tatumn said. “Bring all of your friends and get loud, get hype, and be there.”  The evening will feature three main games, each with five to 10 student participants, along with two mini games in between that allow audience members...

Trevecca to Offer Free Women’s Self-Defense Class Nov. 13

Jasmin Enriquez Martinez Features Editor Women on campus will have the opportunity to learn self-defense techniques at a free class on Nov. 13 at 5 p.m. in the Zelma Auditorium. Flyer provided by Emma Grace Hicks, 2027 class president Hosted by the junior class council, the class will teach techniques to help students learn how to defend themselves and build confidence.  Kat Abraham, a senior creative writing major, will instruct the class. Trevecca student band Roarshack hosts HookyFest, a Nashville student music festival

Trevecca student band, Roarshack, is taking the stage tomorrow night with the launch of HookyFest. HookyFest is a music festival created and headlined by student band Roarshack. The festival kicks off Saturday at 3 p.m. at The Coliseum and will feature 11 bands from Nashville area colleges, including Trevecca, Belmont and Lipscomb. Trevecca Welcomes New Director of Student Life

In July and August, more than 40 people applied from different backgrounds, and Megan McGhee, assistant dean of student life, says that it is a miracle that they found someone within two months of the job being vacant. “It’s unusual. I just feel like the Lord went before us and provided us with the candidate that we needed for this season. We’re really fortunate and we’re so thankful for her,” said McGhee. Specht moved from California to Tennessee a little over a year ago. She attended California Baptist University for her bachelor’s degree and received her master’s in spiritual formation and so...

Chance to see “Selma” for free tonight

by Zach Farnum Trevecca students on Thursday can go see "Selma", a movie about the voting rights march from Selma Montgomery, Ala, for free. Trevecca SGA will be sponsoring the trip so tickets are free with a SLAP card and regular cinema ticket price without. The movie will begin at 7:20 p.m. with two vans leaving from the Hub at 6:45 p.m. for Opry Mills Cinema. This event is part of Trevecca’s multicultural and diversity program as February is Black History Month. (more…)

SGA hosts new winter retreat, ski retreat

For the first time in years, Trevecca students can go on a winter retreat. And the best part: SGA will pay for half of it. Students who haven’t had their fill of snow yet this year, can spend two days skiing at Perfect North Slopes in Lawrenceburg, IN. (more…)
