In honor of Trevecca’s 125th anniversary, the Korean Veterans Memorial Bridge was lit purple and white beginning at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Heather McCulloch, marketing director, spearheaded the project to get the bridge lit.

“We started the process back in May, so it was good to get it planned so far in advance,” said McCulloch.

Trevecca partnered with Parthenon PR, the same public relations firm that supported Trevecca’s marketing team during Dan Boone’s retirement and the presidential search.

According to McCulloch, the process was completely free and only required filling out an application through Nashville.gov.

According to the Metro Nashville government website, the lighting of the Korean Veterans Memorial Bridge in various colors or sequences promotes “Metro Government, its civic institutions, state and federal holidays, national nonprofit organizations with a local presence, and other public events of broad community significance.”

“We submitted the request and it was approved. What a better time to light the bridge up purple and white,” McCulloch said.

Nattan Telemaque, sophomore, commented on the significance of the lighting.

“I think that it’s an amazing thing that the city of Nashville joined Trevecca in celebrating it’s 125th birthday,” said Telemaque.
