Women’s Bible study becomes place of rest and community

By Sydney Wisman A new women’s accountability group on campus is attempting to offer a safe place for women on campus to talk honestly about their lives. Kehilah, which in Hebrew means community, is growing each week and now has about 40 attendees. “We found it was easy to get disconnected with other people,” said Katie Rose Weissend, founder of Kehilah. “I wanted it [Kehilah] to be a space that was free to relax and to be honest, and to talk about deep struggles.” Kehilah starts off with fellowship, an activity, and then a small devotion. Recently the discussion was about resting in God’s presence. My Big Fat Greek Homecoming

By Taylor Brady It will be a big, fat Greek homecoming this year. SGA voted unanimously on this year’s homecoming theme. After kicking around a couple Greek-themed ideas, the homecoming committee proposed two ideas to the full SGA. The two finalists were “The Rise of Troy” and “My Big Fat Greek Homecoming.” “The first one would have been more serious and looked at as a more intimidating,” said Athyn Galardi, SGA chaplain, “My Big Fat Greek Homecoming just sounded like a comical, more fun experience for all the students.” Homecoming is Nov. 6 through Nov. 9. Country artist Mary Sarah to perform on campus

By Maci Shingleton This afternoon RHA will host the T-Town Hoedown in the Quad beginning at 3p.m. The event will include a mechanical bull, a costume contest, food, and a performance by country artist Mary Sarah beginning at 6p.m. Mary Sarah is a native Texan who is doing big things in the Nashville country music scene. At just 18-years-old, she has released a duet album, “Bridges”, featuring duets with iconic country music stars like Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, and Vince Gill. Following her performance, Mary Sarah will meet exclusively with students who are members of CMA EDU for a Q&A session in McClurkan 200.

Don’t panic: Study help available on campus all week

by Stephen Rudge Finals are coming and students starting to panic should know there is help available during the next several days. For instance, students needing a mental break before finals can go to a free relaxation seminar on Monday. Floating on a Cloud, a 15 minute relaxation session, will offer students a chance to clear their minds before taking their tests. “It is open to anybody who is feeling the stress of finals week and needs to relax for a few minutes, ” said Jenn Neely, coordinator of sophomore year programs. Floating on a Cloud is one of several sessions available on campus to help students manage the end of the semester. Trevecca employees prepare for TNT

By Nadia Smith Feeding over 1,000 people more than usual on campus for the next few days means the cafeteria needs more food than it can hold. The tent is up, parking lots are full and hundreds of teenagers are walking around campus.  TNT, or Top Nazarene Talent, is underway and many Trevecca employees are working behind the scenes to make it happen. Top Nazarene Talent, TNT, is an annual event that brings youth groups from different Nazarene churches in the southeast region to Trevecca to participate in a three-day event that showcases their talents. Trevecca’s annual Friday Night Live takes the stage

By Christy Ulmet After nearly three months of preparation, more than 30 students helped put on the two back to back sold out shows of this year’s Friday Night Live. Christian author visits Trevecca

By Nadia Smith  On Tuesday, a handful of Trevecca students and staff gathered in Waggoner Library to hear author Addie Zierman read excerpts of her book "When We Were on Fire." "When We Were on Fire" is a coming of age memoir about Zierman trying to untangle herself from the Jesus freak, us-versus-them culture of the 90s and the struggles that she faced while trying to redefine her faith as an adult.
