Redbird Common, a songwriters-in-the-round event, comes to Trevecca Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. on the rooftop of University Commons.
Redbird Common features emerging artists sharing their original songs. The lineup of artists includes Aaron Williams, Britt Nicole, Warren Peay and Holly Brand. Tickets are $25.44, with a portion of the proceeds going to People Loving Nashville, a nonprofit organization that serves the homeless.
“All four artists are a part of Integrity Music, which is a record label, a Christian record label,” said Rebecca Jones, founder of common events and main organizer Redbird Common.
Some artists participated in shows such as the Voice and American Idol.
Mollie Yoder, associate vice president of marketing and communications, helped connect with Redbird Common after a sponsorship at a songwriters’ event in Franklin, Tennessee.
“We immediately started kind of dreaming and thinking, what could it be like to bring this type of an event onto Trevecca’s campus,” said Yoder. “Especially given the incredible talent within our own student body, with our songwriting program, our commercial music and our music business programs.”
Artists will perform an acoustic set lasting about an hour and a half, said Yoder.
“The idea is just to get exposure both for the artists, [and] for our beautiful campus,” said Yoder.
Students have the opportunity to win free tickets by participating in various social media contests, said Yoder.
Doors open around 5:30 p.m. after sound check.
A coffee vendor will be in front of UC while they wait for the doors to open, according to Yoder.
