The Trevecca volleyball team swept its weekend matches against conference opponents Ursuline and Lake Erie. With the sweep, the Trojans moved to 9-0 in games at Trojan Fieldhouse.
On Friday, Trevecca faced the Ursuline Arrows and had little trouble in the matchup. The Trojans won the match in three sets (25-13, 25-21, 25-14).
Emma Titus led the Trojan offense with a team high nine kills. Setter Emilee McDonald was a key contributor both offensively and defensively. McDonald had a total of 34 assists and 10 digs.
Senior Ellie Buffler had a team high three service aces. Buffler currently leads the GMAC with 42 service aces.
“[Emilee McDonald] has done a great job of stepping into essentially the quarterback position for [our] volleyball team. She brings something to the game that not all setters have, a left-handed attack. She is a tremendous defensive player, something you don’t see in all setters. Emilee is the full package,” said Trevecca head coach Emily Moore.
With the victory, Trevecca moved to 10-6 in the 16 all-time meetings against Ursuline. The Trojans have won four of the last five meetings.
Trevecca carried the momentum from Friday’s victory into Saturday afternoon’s matchup against Lake Erie.
The Trojans swept the Storm in three sets (25-18, 25-16, 25-22).
Maddie Wilds led the Trojan offense with a team high 12 kills. Wilds also contributed six digs on the defensive end and finished with 13 total points.
Emilee McDonald continued her steady play, dishing out 30 assists and finishing with five kills.
Ellie Buffler added to her conference leading service ace total. Buffler finished the afternoon with three service aces and seven kills.
“I’m obviously really excited about our team’s performance this week. We continued our great run here at home and remained undefeated. These were games that we needed to win. It isn’t always easy to win the games that [on paper] you are supposed to win. I’m proud of my team. They dedicated themselves in practice this week and improved their game,” said Moore.
