Gracie Pierce, Madison Clements, Cameron McClure, Brianna Corbett, and Que’ Dell Chithambo are Trojan Idols top five finalists.
Last night Trevecca’s students and faculty headed to the Boone Building to kick off the two-night singing competition. Ten contestants competed against each other for the votes of the judges and students.
For most of the performers being on stage was energizing and nerve-wracking all at once.
“I was super nervous about being on stage. If I’m honest, I don’t have a ton of experience performing. However, once I started performing, I felt kind of ignited. There’s kind of a high you feel when you connect with the crowd,” said Madison Clements, Trojan Idol finalist.
Each of the finalists believes that all of the contestants were talented singers.
“I didn’t think I was going to make it because of how talented everyone was,” said Cameron McClure, Trojan Idol finalist.
Judges Joe Kirk former contestant of the voice, Michelle Noel former Trojan Idol winner, and Toddy Funk a musician. Praised the contestants and gave them helpful advice, preparing the singers for the next rounds of performances.
“It was really appreciated. I didn’t even realize how much I was looking down until I watched a video performance. I can’t wait to use their feedback to better my next performance,” said McClure.
Contestants that didn’t pass the first round will continue to work on their music. Preparing themselves for future performances.
“Just because I didn’t make it past the first round does not mean I am stopping by any means. Failure can’t hold down this freight train,” said Ysabel Mark, Trojan Idol contestant.
The Final performances will be lively and enjoyable.
“Fans can expect a fun performance with lots of energy, and then hopefully a SUPER powerful ballad,” said McClure.
On Thursday night the five finalists will compete and a Trojan Idol winner will be announced.
Thursday’s show starts at 7 p.m. in Boone.
