The third annual Bollywood Movie night is this Saturday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. in Boone.
Namaste is sponsoring the movie night, a part of International Education Week. As Namaste club sponsors, Roy Phillip, associate professor, marketing, and wife Jooly Phillip associate professor, english, pick out the movie each year.
This year, they chose the film PK, a drama-induced film that sets challenges on the character’s religion and cultural beliefs. Regarded as one of the best Hindu films of 2014, PK tells the story of an alien who comes to Earth on a research mission.
“Someone steals [the alien’s] remote, and he is in search of it,” Phillip said. “Someone casually tells him that no one can help him; only God can help him. The alien takes that seriously and starts searching for God.”
“Last year, we watched Bajrangi Bhaijan and Dhoom 3,” said Asia Norman, junior, president of Namaste. “These were absolutely the best movies so far, and they just keep getting better every year. More Trevecca students should come see these showings.”
Last year, around 35 students showed up for the movie night. The Phillips expect a bigger turnout this year.
