Tonight’s match-up was the second of the evening as Kentucky Wesleyan and Drury University competed earlier as part of this weekend’s 11th annual “Pops Duncan Classic” tournament.

Jack “Pops” Duncan is a longtime Trevecca athletics fan, and can be seen supporting the Trojans at most all home games. Duncan lives in the Trevecca Towers and has been named an “honorary coach” of the Lady Trojans basketball, volleyball and softball teams for his continued support of the teams. Duncan was one of six to be inducted into the Trevecca Athletics Hall of Fame class of 2016 earlier this year.

In the first quarter both teams seemingly got off to a slow start as the Lady Trojans connected on only five of their 16 field goals, conversely holding their opponents to a mere three of 11 from the field.

The Lady Trojans took a little momentum into the second quarter however, ending the first period in a zone defense allowing them to tie the game at 12.

Despite scoring woes in the second quarter, the Lady Trojans, led by seven points from freshman McKenzie Kilburn, trailed the Lady Tritons 18-20 at halftime.

The Lady Tritons extended their first half lead to as much as ten before the Lady Trojans could find the scoreboard in the third quarter.

Sophomore Adi Hale drove to the basket and was fouled with 4:07 remaining in the third period to cut the deficit to seven, 21-28. The Lady Trojans trailed 22-30 going into the final period of play.

The Lady Trojans could not find their offensive rhythm tonight as they finished the fourth quarter with only 9 point15057977_10206134169231676_767870047_ns, losing 42-31.

The Lady Tritons stretched their lead to as much as 14 before a three by Freshman Hannah Eaglen trimmed the deficit to 11.

The Lady Trojans high scorer tonight was McKenzie Kilburn with 7 points and 2 rebounds. The Lady Tritons were led by Robneisha Lee who had 12 points and was a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.

The Lady Trojans will face Drury University tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 p.m. to conclude the “Pops Duncan Classic” tournament.
