The Lady Trojans (1-1) fell 94-59 against the Drury University Lady Panthers (2-0) Saturday afternoon in the Trojan Fieldhouse.
Today’s match-up concluded this season’s action of the “Pops Duncan Classic,” a tournament hosted by Trevecca for the past eleven years.
The Lady Trojans offense got off to another slow start in this one, scoring only nine first quarter points.
The Lady Trojans defense struggled in the second period, conceding 28 points as the Lady Trojans trailed at the half, 25-43.
At halftime, the Lady Trojans were led by senior Sarah Raby who had 8 points and 2 rebounds. The Lady Panthers were shooting better than 60 percent from the field at the half, getting 15 points from Heather Harman.
Raby sparked the Lady Trojans offense in the third, scoring her team’s first five points cutting the Lady Panthers lead to 20, but that’s as close as the Lady Trojans would come in the second half.
The Lady Panthers continued scoring, keeping an up-tempo offense for the entire 10 minutes of the third. Drury scored 29 points in the period, extending their lead to 30 entering the final quarter.
During the fourth quarter, head coach Chad Hibdon elected to get some younger players into the game. With his team trailing by 30 he inserted the trio of Bailey Foote, Miriam Kirk and Dakota Dornbrack. Every Lady Trojan in uniform got action today.
The Lady Trojans were led by Sarah Raby who had 13 points and 3 rebounds. The Lady Panthers were led by Briana Jones who had 17 points and 6 rebounds.
The Lady Trojans are back in action at home next Thursday, Nov. 17 when they take on Lane College in the Trojan Fieldhouse.
