The Trevecca Cross Country teams hosted their first ever meet at Percy Warner Park in Nashville on Saturday.
The women’s team finished with an overall score of 90, which placed them 4th best. The men’s team totaled a final score of 111, good for 5th place.
The weather for the teams first ever home meet played a factor in the competition. The threat of heat caused the men’s race to be moved up to 9:00 a.m. instead of the intended 10:10 a.m. start time. The women’s race began at 9:50 a.m. much closer to the scheduled start time of 9:45 a.m.
The Lady Trojans ran a 5 kilometer race (3.11 miles) and the Trojans ran an 8 kilometer race (4.97 miles).
The Lady Trojans team, led by junior Biz Mclendon, finished with a total team time of 1:39:43. Mclendon completed the race in 19:17.8 good for 4th best of the 111 lady athletes at the competition.
The Lady Trojans had one other runner finish in the top ten. Sophomore Danielle March placed 10th with a time of 19:28.8.
The Trojans team finished 5th overall led by senior Ben Moroney with a time of 26:48.8. Moroney’s teammate, junior Brandon Laws, finished 13th overall with a time of 27:25.2.
The Trojans team finished with a total team time of 2:19:47.
The Cross Country teams are back in action October 8th as travel to Romeoville, IL to compete in the Lewis University Crossover meet.
