Trojans fall to Battlers 3-2, face Davis & Elkins Saturday

The Trojans 2-4-1 (1-2-1) lost to Alderson Broaddus University 2-2 (2-3-2) by a score of thr

ee to two Thursday night at the Trojan Soccer Complex.

The first goal of the match came from a corner kick that was headed in by Ryan Hogan at 9:02 in the first half. Baylor McKay was credited with the assist.

The rest of the half belonged to Alderson Broaddus as the Battlers scored twice in less than five 14458872_10205792050638925_2116823443_nminutes.

At 21:08 Shavon John-Brown scored the equalizing goal for the Battlers, he was assisted by Luis Velasco. Fernando Franco gave the Battlers the lead for the rest of the half as he found the net behind Trojan goal keeper Tyler Delgado at 26:04. Franco was assisted by John-Brown.

During the second half came a pair of goals and much more physical play between the two Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) opponents.

Nicholas Reinhard leveled the scoreboard for the Trojans at the 50:57 mark when his shot from Victor Tsado made it in the net.

A combined 14 shots between the two teams would occur before the game winning goal was scored by John-Brown at 77:37, this time assisted by teammate

The Trojans could not overcome the late game score losing for the third time this season at home. There were 167 people in attendance tonight.

The Trojans outshot the Battlers 15-13 while both teams were equal in shots on goal with 5. Trojan goalie Delgado made two saves whereas his counterpart Felix Von Su had 3.

The Trojans next match is Saturday against Davis & Elkins College. The teams have not yet met this season.
