Position: Director of Communications
Age: 21
Graphic Design
Hometown: Ooltewah, TN
How should students contact you?
You can talk to me in the cafeteria, around campus, in my apartment, or wherever they see me. Or you can email me at epknowles@mail.trevecca.edu.
How do you plan to stay connected to students to make sure their voices are heard?
I plan on hanging around campus, where students are. This is, obviously, a big way to stay connected in campus life and to hear the voices of the students. Also, Trevecca SGA’s Facebook page and email (sga@trevecca.edu) are a great way to communicate!
What, in your opinion, are the three most important issues facing students at Trevecca and how will you address them?
Two that immediately come to mind are (1) finding a place to plug in and (2) finding out who we are, both of which my position addresses. As the director of communications, I plan on communicating the various events happening on campus to give students multiple opportunities to get involved, so they can figure out what they enjoy being a part of.
The third important issue is the future: Where we’re going, what we’re doing, who we’re doing it with, etc. My position doesn’t exactly address this specifically, except that it shows you outlets in which you can get involved.
When you are faced with big or important decisions, what do you do?
I try to take a couple steps back and think first, and then act. I also talk to my parents and close friends, they can be part of my stepping back process; it’s helpful to have someone that is, at least somewhat, removed from the situation.
What are your two top priorities for the position you hold?
To get the word out about events on campus so that the students know about all the ways they can be involved and to find new and better ways to communicate.
